2023 Warden & Tutor Activities
Spring
In January, Associate College Master Prof. Simon Pun and the warden of Block C, along with the students residing on campus, gathered for a delightful celebration. They came together to make dumplings, enjoyed a New Year's Eve dinner, and watched the Spring Festival Gala. In a warm and festive atmosphere, they joyously welcomed the Lunar Year of the Rabbit, embracing the unique traditions and flavors of the Lunar New Year as members of Harmonia College.
In February, Prof. Simon Pun and college tutors organized Lantern Festival activities where they cooked tangyuan (glutinous rice balls). The teachers and students came together at the event, enjoying the delicious treat while engaging in conversations and sharing stories from their lives. These activities provided a valuable opportunity for everyone to bond and strengthen their connections, fostering a strong sense of unity and camaraderie within Harmonia College.
Summer
On a delightful April afternoon, Ms. Yang Hanmin, the warden of Harmonia Block A, and Prof. Simon Pun, the associate college master, took students on an excursion to the picturesque Xichong Beach. As they ventured forth, they embraced the soothing breeze and the humidity in the air, engaging in a leisurely hike that brought them closer to nature. The serene surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for everyone to unwind and release the burdens of stress, fostering a renewed sense of tranquility and rejuvenation.
During the May Day holiday, under the organization of tutors Luo Yueru from Block A3, Mentor Yan Wenzhong from Block D6, Mentor Xia Yijia from Block A2, and Mentor Li Tieming from Block D5, Xiangbo Academy hosted the Academy Film Fun and Glass Painting Fun events. These activities brought joy to the students who stayed on campus during the holiday, providing them with engaging and entertaining experiences.
In May, tutors Lu Lanxi and Ma Yuqi from Block A orchestrated a delightful graduation cap decoration workshop at the Harmonia Art Studio. The students, filled with creativity and passion, meticulously personalized their caps with distinct decorations that captured treasured memories and represented the culmination of their four-year college journey. This workshop allowed the students to express their individuality and commemorate their academic achievements in a meaningful way.
At the end of May, wardens and tutors visited the student dormitories, bringing snacks and words of encouragement to the students facing the pressures of final exams. This thoughtful gesture provided a boost of motivation and support to the students during a challenging time, showing that the wardens and tutors genuinely care about their well-being and success.
Autumn
In September, tutors and their assistants organized floor welcoming activities to facilitate communication and the exchange of experiences between new and existing students. They played an important role in helping the new students quickly familiarize themselves with the various facilities and environments within the college. Additionally, based on the students' needs, the tutors and assistants purchased kitchenware and tableware for the floors, creating a warm and harmonious floor culture.
Our students had a wonderful experience during our Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in September. Under the guidance of wardens, tutors, and tutor assistants, our students learned how to make delectable ice-skinned mooncakes that carried well wishes for the occasion. They also showcased their creativity by handcrafting lanterns, adding a vibrant and enchanting atmosphere to the event.
Through the efforts of our dedicated tutors and the assistance of floor assistants, our students who stayed on campus had an enjoyable and thrilling holiday experience. Yan An from B3, Deng Langrui from BC3, and Song Yiben from D7 organized a "Badminton After-School" activity, while Peng Jiaqi from B4 and Yan Wenzhong from D6 hosted the "College Film Fun" event. Zhang Xue from B3 and Liu Yezhou from D7 initiated the "Eco Walk Clean-up" activity. These activities not only provided opportunities for students to engage in recreational and cultural pursuits but also fostered a sense of community within our college.
In late October, the bustling atmosphere of Harmonia Sleepless City was filled with laughter and joy as tutors and floor assistants set up stalls to teach everyone the art of carving pumpkin lanterns and unique treat decorations.
Winter
During the winter solstice season, the warden of Block A, Yang Hanmin, and her tutors surprised our students with comforting, warm ginger teas infused with its delightful fragrance to spread the warmth and coziness of the winter season. They also offered sweet Swiss rolls to complement the soothing drink, adding a delightful indulgence and further enhancing the students' winter experience.
On Christmas Eve, tutors and floor assistants came together to surprise the students with Christmas trees, delightful treats, and decorations. The festive spirit of Christmas began to fill the floor, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
On Christmas Eve, Cai Yuwei, the warden of Block C, along with her tutors, carefully prepared snacks and hot mulled wine for the students. They enjoyed watching Christmas movies, making gingerbread cookies, and exchanging Christmas gifts in a warm and romantic atmosphere, making it a memorable Christmas night for everyone.
On the last day of 2023, Li Zhen, the warden of Block D, along with tutors Song Yiben from D7, Du Yuhao from D3, and Zhang Chi from D5, organized a memorable New Year's Eve celebration for the students. The event featured a lively broadcast concert, engaging board games, heartwarming greeting cards, and an exciting lottery draw. This exceptional gathering fostered an atmosphere of joy and togetherness and rekindled community spirit, allowing everyone to warmly embrace the coming year.
Additionally, wardens and tutors have been dedicated to supporting students in solving problems related to both their personal lives and studies in the year-long "Dining with Friends" activity. The after-school badminton activities organized by Song Yiben from D7 have also allowed students to channel their youthful energy and passion through physical activity.
