Harmonia Evening Talks Phase 14 | How to Handle Academic Pressure?
November 8, 2020
In this phase, Prof. Ye Lixin, the College Master, shared his ideas on coping with academic pressure at university. First, knuckling down to prepare for exams is certainly crucial, but it’s also equally important to realize that failing an exam doesn’t make you a loser in life. He suggested taking the long view on academic performance. Second, GPA is not as important as you think. Life is a marathon of perseverance rather than a 100-Meter sprint. Only those with true grit will have the last laugh. Third, learn to ask for help. Wardens, tutors, college teachers, and SHCC are all there for students to lean on. Bottling up emotions will only weigh you down, and exacerbate the difficulties that you are facing. Last but not least, he encouraged students to engage in college activities and sports, finding a balance between academics and life.
