The Signing Ceremony of the Sister College Agreement Between Harmonia College and New Asia College
75 years of dedication have fostered countless talents across the world.
On September 27, 2024, New Asia College of CUHK celebrated its 75th anniversary. To mark this occasion, Harmonia College officially established a sister college relationship with New Asia College. Representatives from Harmonia College were invited to CUHK to join friends from New Asia College in this remarkable celebration.
As time passes by, the journey is etched with glory and brilliance. The anniversary tea gathering began at Hui Kwok Hau Hall, where both Head of New Asia College and Master of Harmonia College delivered their inspiring speeches.
Prof. Hector Sun On CHAN, head of New Asia College, elaborated on the shared values of both colleges. He emphasized that while the mottos differ, they embody remarkably similar ideals of whole-person education. The collaboration will undoubtedly provide more opportunities for the growth of student, as both colleges strive towards their shared educational aspirations.
Prof. Simon PUN, Acting Master of Harmonia College, reflected on the development and past exchanges between the two colleges, expressing hope for continued cooperation to promote higher education in the Greater Bay Area.
With thoughtful words that inspired the audience, the signing ceremony for the sister college agreement began.
Under the witness of Mr. K.C. YUEN, Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen, and Prof. Ambrose Y. C. KING, former Head of New Asia College and former President of CUHK, and other distinguished guests, both masters signed the memorandum of cooperation. In a moment captured by cameras, the friendship between the two colleges was immortalized.
To mark this historic occasion, each college prepared meaningful gifts for one another.
Prof. Simon PUN presented a couplet from Harmonia College to New Asia College: "New Asia connects its friends in Longgang; Harmonia reflects beauty in its flow," inscribed by Prof. Yangsheng XU, President of CUHK-Shenzhen. In return, Prof. Hector Sun On CHAN gifted Harmonia College with the couplet: "Together we advance with sincerity and wisdom," crafted by Prof. CHEUNG Kam Siu and calligraphed by renowned alumnus of New Asia College, Dr. Pui Chee CHUI.
Following the signing, Anny WONG, President of the New Asia College Alumni Association, addressed the audience. In a joyous atmosphere, leaders and faculty from both colleges gathered to cut a celebratory cake donated by the alumni association. The sweetness of the cake symbolized the shared joy of the anniversary, as students and faculty enjoyed it together, spreading happiness throughout the college.
After savoqiring the anniversary cake, students and faculty from both colleges gathered for a commemorative photo, capturing the treasured moment and cementing their genuine friendship. Looking ahead, both colleges will continue to walk side by side toward a bright future.
As the ceremony concluded, all gathered for a grand banquet. The warm atmosphere and engaging conversations fostered inspiration, as everyone enjoyed the signature dish and delightful performances, wrapping up the event on a high note.
