As autumn breezes in, the new academic year at Harmonia College unfolds. New students, full of  hope and dreams for college life, began their exciting journey through a series of welcome events, igniting their passion for exploration.

1. Student Organization Recruitment

Under a clear sky, student organizations gathered in the square, where new students eagerly explored various booths. They played games to win prizes, shared posts to earn goodies, and cheered for lively performances. This recruitment event opened a window into the college's extracurricular life, infusing organizations with fresh energy and enthusiasm.

2. Welcome Ceremony

• Address by Faculty

The Welcome Ceremony kicked off in a sea of refreshing "Haromonia Blue". Prof. Shiping ZHU, the Vice-President of CUHK-Shenzhen, warmly congratulated the freshmen, emphasizing that the college is a big family, providing a strong support for their growth. With humor and warmth, he encouraged students to embrace new experiences, explore the unknown, and engage actively in campus life. He closed with the word "Harmony", expressing hope for their future.

Professor Simon PUN, the Acting Master of Harmonia College, welcomed the new students and introduced the while-person education philosophy, which covers intellectual, social, emotional, ethical, and physical development. He encouraged them to face challenges boldly and explore their interests, assuring that the college will support every student on this vibrant journey.

In appreciation of the dedicated resident wardens, Prof. Zhen LI shared his insights on college life, stressing the importance of respect, innovation, and well-being. He inspired students with a quote about pursuing their dreams amidst challenges.

• Honor Awards Ceremony

During the 2023-2024 Honor Awards, outstanding students and faculty were recognized for their contributions to the college's development. Xin CAO, captain of the Harmonia football team, shared his passion for the sport and encouraged peers to engage in activities that enrich their college experience.

• Student Performances

Kaiwen PANG played "Immortal Sound Above Cloud Palace," enchanting everyone with its magical melody. Two students sang "Rewrite the Stars," moving hearts with beautiful harmonies. The Hurricane Dance Team showcased their vibrant energy through lively dancing, infusing the space with youthful spirit.

•  Harmonia Spirit

The engaging performances sparked freshmen’s curiosity and excitement about college life. Prof. Simon PUN, the Acting Master of Harmonia College, then took the stage to share the college's unique character and milestones, while faculty introduced themselves, extending warm greetings to the freshmen. Amidst applause, resident wardens welcomed new students with spirited slogans.

The event also highlighted the dedicated team from Zhonghang Property, ensuring a comfortable living environment for all.

• Student Leadership

Pu CHENG and Yixuan CHENG, leaders of the Harmonia Resident Student Association, introduced the association’s mission and welcomed more students to join. Certificates were awarded to student organization representatives and peer leaders, inspiring them to lead their peers in exploring new possibilities.

To commemorate this joyous occasion, the freshmen of 2024 gathered for a photo, ready to embrace their new college life with enthusiasm and positivity!

3. Icebreaker Camp

With the rain clearing, the icebreaking activities were in full swing. Under the guidance of student mentors, groups participated enthusiastically in games like "Super Volleyball" and "Circle Relay," fostering teamwork and trust.

As the night fell, the bonfire lit up the festivity, where students danced and played, celebrating under a dazzling fireworks display. This warm and joyful moment will forever be cherished in the hearts of the Harmonia community.
